| Breaking News |  | Washington's Jose Pett Suffers Setback
Friday, June 9th, 2000: Jose Pett is hurting again, just a few days into his treatment for elbow inflammation. Apparently the injury worsened, so the Generals sent the 23-year-old reliever back to the doctors for reexamination. Pett told them that the pain had gotten much worse in recent days. It was confirmed that the injury was indeed much more severe that first thought. He was sent to a specialist, who felt that treatment would be longer than first diagnosed. Pett will now miss a minimum of 6 days.

 | Star LF Keith Signs for 4 years
Friday, June 9th, 2000: Team officials triumphantly announced that the Pioneers and superstar left fielder Ryan Keith have closed a deal that keeps the 29-year-old in a Portland uniform for another 4 years.
Keith will earn $12,800,000 as part of the settlement.
Keith is currently batting .295 with 18 home runs, 47 RBIs and 41 runs scored. He has 64 hits in 217 at-bats. |
 | Fire Lichtenstein Out of Action
Wednesday, June 7th, 2000: After injuring himself, Fire reliever R.C. Lichtenstein headed straight to the hospital. He was removed from the game as a precaution after throwing a pitch and the team's worst fears were confirmed when it turned out to be a little more serious. Lichtenstein will miss at least 1-2 weeks with biceps tendinitis.
For the season his stats show Lichtenstein has no saves in 42 relief appearances with a 5-6 record and 5.23 ERA. |
